The most powerful aspect of the Armenian Church is its people. Throughout the Diocese, lay members assume critical leadership roles in all levels of the Church. From organizing events at a parish to giving direction to the entire Diocese, the Diocese needs the talent and support of laity. Three of our highest positions include the Diocesan Council, Board of Trustees, and Assembly Delegates. The people in these positions are elected by their peers and take active roles in shaping the future of our Diocese.

The Diocesan Assembly

The Diocesan Assembly meets regularly to help guide the Armenian Diocese in its spiritual and cultural work. As the Church strives to be significant in the life of every Armenian, the Diocesan Assembly helps move the Church toward this important goal.

The 2007 Assembly and Clergy Conference will be from April 30 to May 6, 2007, at the Sheraton Nashua Hotel in Nashua, NH. The events will be hosted by the Sts. Vartanantz Church of Chelmsford, MA. Click here to visit the website created for the Assembly by the host parish.

Diocesan Council

The Diocesan Council supervises the parochial institutions and organizations of the Diocese and the activities of the officers thereof, examining and deciding, jointly with the Primate, on matters relative to the establishment of churches, educational and charitable institutions and organizations within the Diocese.

The Diocesan Council also decides the establishment or examines and approves a proposal for the establishment of new church communities or parishes or various other church or community organizations.

Additionally, the Council is also responsible for preparing and presenting an annual operating budget to the Diocesan Assembly. The Diocesan Council consists of 11 members, four of whom are clergymen and seven are laymen, elected by the Diocesan Assembly.
